Renal failure and dialysis are words which reach our ears not seldom. State of the art in renal dialysis includes what is called haemodiafiltration, which is a technique that effectively combines both diffusion and convection. This new modality offers better survival rates in patients when compared with conventional dialysis.

Purification or elimination of toxins from kidney using this requires pristine quality of water. This is not much of a great demand, especially when the results include lower probability of complications like amyloidosis and better prognosis and quality of life.

This technique was introduced by Hendersen in 1967, which was concluded to remove a broader spectrum of solutes. Recently, guidelines too have been prescribed to utilize it in the best possible manner.

Thus, with this upcoming technology, people with renal diseases have better life expectancy.
